English Language Centre - Speaking at University Online

Speaking at University is a friendly, interactive series for students who want to feel more confident speaking in university life. Whether you’re contributing in seminars, explaining ideas, joining discussions, listening actively, or building an argument, these sessions help you develop practical strategies for real academic situations. The sessions are open to all students, but they are especially useful for international and multilingual students who want a supportive space to practise, reflect, and connect with others. Expect discussion, collaboration, useful language, and ideas you can use straight away in class and beyond.

Building social relationships 

Speaking with confidence at university is not only academic, it is also social. This session helps you connect with others, build confidence in starting conversations, and develop the relationship-building skills that make university life feel more supportive, enjoyable and collaborative.
