English Language Centre - Everyday English In-Person

The Everyday English course is designed to support international students who may find some aspects of living in the UK unfamiliar. The sessions aim to provide essential language skills: words, phrases, and grammar that will help you open a bank account, make phone calls or attend GP appointments. These informal sessions are interactive, offering opportunities to share your experiences of living in the UK with others in the group and practise speaking about the topics.

Making Phone calls

In this session you will learn vocabulary and phrases for making phone calls, such as starting a call, dealing with communication problems and transferring information. You will also practise making phone calls to transfer information and giving ‘unwelcome’ news.
