Academic Writing - Online Online

This session is ONLINE, please do not attend in person

Session 3: Being concise in academic writing

In this session, you will learn how to make your writing clearer and more concise without losing meaning. You will explore why conciseness is important in academic writing and how overly long sentences can reduce clarity. You will practise editing sentences to remove unnecessary words, use more specific verbs, and create more effective noun phrases. The session also introduces useful techniques such as avoiding repetition, simplifying expressions, and using active voice where appropriate. By the end, you will be able to revise your own writing to communicate ideas more clearly, precisely, and efficiently.
