Academic Writing - On Campus In-Person / Online

Session 1: Constructing an argument
In this session, you will learn what an argument is in academic writing and how to build one effectively. You will explore key concepts such as claims, supporting arguments, counter-arguments, concessions, and refutations. Through reading and analysing example texts, you will identify how writers structure arguments and evaluate how persuasive they are. You will also practise using useful academic language to present your own ideas and respond to other viewpoints.
