KnowHow Academic English: Punctuation Online

Would you like to develop your punctuation skills in academic writing? Come and join our KnowHow Punctuation sessions.

The five sessions will focus on the following:

1. Word-level punctuation, e.g. apostrophes and hyphens

2. Sentence structure and commas

3. Commas and clauses

4. Lists and examples: commas, colons and semicolons

5. Other uses of commas, colons and semicolons

The aim of this five-week course is to raise your awareness of accurate punctuation and sentence structure. It will help you improve the readability of your writing by developing your punctuation and proof-reading skills.

These classes are open to all faculties: undergraduate students, postgraduate students, research students and staff.

They will be of most benefit to students who speak English as a second or additional language.

Sessions in Semester 2 are the same as those in Semester 1.

Regular attendance is important to ensure that you get full benefit of the course. Students who attend 75% of the course will be eligible for a Certificate of Participation.
