KnowHow: Choosing and Using Graphs In-Person

Don't know which graph to use for your results?  Not sure how to make graphs in Excel?

Aimed at Undergraduate students, this workshop will cover different types of graphs and how they represent data differently.

This workshop assumes basic knowledge such as understanding of means and standard errors.  if unsure, please see 'Statistics for beginners' workshop.

You will be asked to generate graphs from an example dataset.  Laptops will be provided but you may bring your own if you prefer.  Microsoft Excel must be installed if bringin your own laptop.

Outcomes of this workshop:

  • Understand the difference between nominal, ordinal and scale data
  • Be able to choose an appropriate type of graph for different types of data
  • Be able to make graphs in Excel.
